Comic reader has one feature that sets it apart from most of the other comic reader programs. By simply tapping any of the text bubbles, you can magnify that bubble. Let's face it: reading today's comics with their elaborate page design is almost silly on a tiny device like the iPhone. Comic Reader Mobi has created a very clever interface to try to overcome the problem and it works really well. I've experienced occasional small glitches in the CRM zoom scheme, but none are fatal or even intrusive and all recover without an interruption in reading. It's a great scheme and very easy to manage in practice, integrating CRM's "zoom box" with Apple's native multi-touch zooming and panning, allowing you to focus attention of whatever part of the page you want to see, or to back off and see the page as a whole. And downloading comics works flawlessly and with ridiculous ease. All in all a very impressive product! Congrats to the author on his remarkable work!

I try as many of the comic book reading apps in the AppStore as I can, and Mobi is a winner. Although I disliked the page turning in the first version, 1.1 got it right. The developer is responsive to feedback and came through with a quick and excellent update. That bodes well for the future of this app. What makes Mobi stand out ahead of other fine comic reading apps is the ability to read .CBR format comics without having to convert to a lossy format. It does all the other formats as well, of course, but .CBR is the most common for Public Domain golden age comic books. A few other AppStore readers claim to support .CBR, but they mean by first converting to a proprietary compressed format. Loading your digital comic books is quick and easy, too. Recommended.

I can't believe this app works as well as it does. I can now read my back catalog of 2000AD on my iPhone while commuting.The speech bubble zoom works almost every time; only if the original scan is too mucky (or the artwork is odd) does it have trouble detecting the edges. And even if it does have trouble, it just brings up the normal lens so you can still see it anyway. The lens is also useful for looking at the detail of the artwork.Well worth the price.

always wanted comics on iphone, but a bit of pain having to zoom in and out to read text, this app does away with that by cleverly detecting the text bubbles when tapped on and just zooming them whilst maintaining the overall comic page. thanks chaps

Don't be put off by the price, this is a quality bit of software. FTP capabilities means you can upload any comics you find. The interface is sweet, simple and instinctive and the overall quality is superb. This is the definitive comic reader for the Iphone.

I was initially a little concerned about this app, the high price tag and I was dubious how the speech buibble expansion function would work on comics not bought through the app. However, I really wanted an app that would let me sync via USB and I can honestly say this is the best app I have used. The speed that the comics are transferred at is staggering, and you can organise comics into different folders and it remembers your place in each one. The expand function is generally very good, it does sometimes cut the edges of the speech bubbles, but you can zoom in normally with the pinch controls or there's a handy zoom window you can drag around a page. It is worth going to the comic reader mobi website to download the comic sync program to use all the features of the app.

I was a bit worried because of the high price but this application is just amazing.You can read perfectly, without the zomming of the whole page, the picture is crystal clear and what's important for me especially is that since I dont have wi fi network on my desktop computer this is the only comic reader where I can actually transfer my comics and read them on my Ipod touch. I cant believe how simple transfering of comics is. Good job.Just two suggestion, you could make something like a book shelf, at least to see the first page/cover of every comic when we choose what to read. Little eye candy wouldn't hurt. And second it would be nice if you could turn pages just by sliding.p.s.this is my first and probably last review I wrote, and that's saying something

This is an absolutely fantastic application! I gotta admit...$14.95 seemed a bit steep. So steep that even with reviewing the Comic Reader Mobi forum, reading the reviews, and looking at the competing solutions...I didn't pull the trigger right away.When I finally did buy it, I was very impressed. Even better, after reading several hundred pages on it, I'm still very impressed.The fact that this reader lets me use my .cbr and .cbz files, allows me to easily use my PC to get them on and off the iPhone, and has auto-zoom for text were the main reasons I got the program, and it's clear in the forums and product page that the developer has both active dialogue with us users and is still at work on supporting and improving this product.In more than a few hours and comics of reading, the app has performed nearly flawlessly and is my favorite app to use on my train commute.I have very rarely had a page zoom out to nothing or zoom in but then refuse to zoom out, both of which are fixed by going forward and then back a page. The program preloads the next page, so even on high res files, it feels quick and snappy unless you're jumping back or paging through without reading. I don't know how many people use the option, but being able to use the volume buttons to go forward and backwards is great.I really am quite impressed and satisfied, and hats of to the developer. For any comic fan with a .cbr/.cbz collection interested in reading comics on your iPhone...this is worth every penny, and has preformed better than I'd hoped.

I've used several of the other comic viewers and this is the best by far. More pricey than the others but once you use it you'll see that it is far superior. The magnify lens works beautifully and being able to adjust it's settings makes it more useful. Keep up the good work!!

If you love comics and have an iPhone you need this app!I have been following the development of Comic Reader Mobi since it's early stages and it has turned into a really amazing program!The author is very responsive to questions, comments and feature requests, and is always working on elements of the program.Ignore other reviews that compare this app to ComicZeal... both are good apps, but they are completely different. Mobi wants you see the comic in it's full desktop resolution! Speed is improving with each version, along with great new features.I love this app and can't wait to see what else the author has up his sleeve! :)

This is by far the best comic book reader for the iphone. A bit pricey, but i guess everything is when you're used to seeing "Free" or ".99" in the price column. Anyway, I bought it and I'm EXTREMELY glad that I did. The app allows you to easily read your comics as well as, most importantly, easily upload your comics. I have tried and paid for other readers only to be disappointed and frustrated by the complicated nature of getting the comics to your phone. This app is the one you should buy if you are looking for a comic reader for your iphone.

This application doesn't have flashy or useless graphics. It doesn't display your comics like glossy books on a shelf. What it does is read your cbz, cbr, zip and rar comics natively (no slow conversions) with ease and speed. The zoom lense is intuitive and amazing, FTP file transfer is fast, and USB transfer is even faster. Ty's support is outstanding as well; he responded to a support request in about half an hour! This is the best comic reader for the iPhone platform, hands-down.

A bit pricey but it works! Super easy to load cbr files on your iPhone. Easy to read...great zooming. If you could turn the pages with a finger swipe it would be almost perfect. I was leary about paying so much for this but if you want to read comics on your iPhone this one works the best!

Absolutely brilliant app. The lens is perfect and very responsive. This is the only way to read comics on iPhone/iTouch. Native support for .CBR is huge and ultimately the reason why I was happy to pay 12 bucks. It's a breeze to set up and getting your comics on and off your device is so easy with the free ComicSync tool provided by the developer.If any app is worth the cost it's this one. Check out the video demo and you'll be convinced.

I downloaded this Comic Reader hoping it would actually work and it does! I was reading comics in only a few minutes. The key here for me is that it reads .cbr files natively with no conversion process, the magnifying feature is just icing on the cake! I was able to upload comics via the FTP feature and the file sync app with no problems. I rated 4 stars because the price is a bit high, but its a great comic reader for the iphone.

Pricey. It gets a four because it manages to take medium to large chunks of .cbr and .cbz comic reader archives without hickups and lags.That and the added Touch functionality (with a slight tap you can get customizeable magnification) makes it worth it.
